I am very excited to tell you all that I will be moving into a 3 bedroom semi
by the sea in Barrhead very soon. To cut a LOOOOONG story short, we had some pretty awful run-ins with our landlord/letting agent combo and it all just got a bit too much. As it happens, Ian has forbidden me from talking to any of them ever again as I just get too emotional and threaten to sue everyone.
Moving onwards and upwards we were offered the chance to move into this beautiful home for roughly the same amount that we were paying in rent for the flat – as always it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. I fell in LOVE with it as soon as I went round to peek in the windows.
Now, If you’ve ever lived in a flat you will know that there are just some things that you will never stop missing. I lived with my parents up until the age of 18 and then I moved into a lush basement flat for University. Not having a garden didn’t really bother me then as I was living in the centre of town, minutes away from Union Terrace Gardens and Duthie Park, (shout out to Aberdeen) so I was never really left wanting for a bit of greenery.
After leaving Uni, we moved to Paisley which is a far cry from the Granite City. There are no (safe) parks within walking distance and I found that as I matured, I needed a garden in my life. Also, I have a desperate desire for a freezer. I am sick to death of throwing away food as there’s never any room in the tiny little built-in icebox in the fridge. The new house has both of these things and I couldn’t be happier.
You may be thinking why do we need a 3 bedroom house when there is just two of us? Well, we don’t. We can happily manage with 2 bedrooms (although I think 1 room would be pushing it – I have a lot of crap). Nevertheless it will be a lovely luxury to be able to turn the smallest bedroom into a proper office for us to share.
I’ve gone off on a bit of a tangent so I’ll try get back on track now. This is really my introduction to my Moving House Series which I am very excited about! Each week I will upload a post sharing some snippets of advice which might come in handy if you ever have to move! I can’t wait to share all of the ups (and possibly downs) of moving into our new home with you all. Also, if you’re in the process of a big move then lets share our woes! It’s sure to be a stressful time and a problem shared is a problem halved as they say. Give us a shout on Twitter, Instagram or just leave me a comment.
Watch this space for Part 2: Where to Begin.
