I’M DOING SHAYTOBER!!!!
That’s right you guys, October is going to be the month where I get back to a better fitness level. Back in May I ran a 5K for Breast Cancer Awareness (you can read more about that here) and this forced me to get into shape. I found out that I actually enjoyed running and continued to do it after the race. Unfortunately around July my body decided to stick 2 fingers up at me and to cut a long story short, my running fell by the wayside. This happened partly due to feeling crappy all of the time and also my aptitude for procrastination.
I’m finally back to feeling (mostly) like my old self and have found a happy balance of food that I can eat without dying on the inside. Now that that’s sorted I just need to return to my old fitness level. This is easier said than done but I have some extra motivation in the form of Shaytober!
Don’t know what Shaytober is? Well basically it is an online campaign of fitness spearheaded by Shay-Carl from The Shaytards. The Shaytards are a family that vlogs their daily lives and they are my favourite YouTube family! Shay-Carl lost a tonne of weight a few years back so he really knows what he’s talking about. I will be following along with all of the videos and motivational tips and tricks that he provides.
From the 1st of October I will also be posting on this here blog about my efforts which will definitely make me more accountable and keep me on track. If nothing else, my Mum will be stalking my progress and I can expect a defamatory text if she feels like I’m not pulling my weight (pun intended).
When I was writing this post I thought it would be a great idea to open it up to all of you out there who want to join me! Everyones knows that fitness training is much easier if you have support so lets all get involved! If you do then I will feature your blog in my Shaytober round up EVERY WEEK! That’s some excellent exposure for your blog 😉 Here’s all you need to do to qualify:
- Follow this blog on Bloglovin (I will obviously follow you back)
- Follow me on Twitter and Instagram (I will follow back too)
- Add the button to your blog (you can find the code in my sidebar or at the end of this post)
- Set yourself some achievable goals to reach by the end of October and email them to me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
Each week I will send out an email to you to chat about how you’re getting on. With your permission I will include some of our updates in my weekly post. Sound good? I think so! That’s 4 whole weeks of extra exposure for your blog along with a group of friendly motivators.
To get us started, here are my goals:
- Run a 5K on the treadmill without stopping.
- Loose 10lbs in weight.
- Manage 25 full press-ups without dying.
These are realistic to me although I think the press-ups will be the hardest to accomplish! Let’s get physical guys 😉
P.S. If you don’t know how to add a button to your blog then use this handy tutorial might be of some use. If you’re still having trouble just drop me an email or comment below and I will try to help out as much as I can 🙂
