My Favourite Sewing Blogs

In my quest for sewing domination I have done a fair bit of research… Actually it’s been like a whole lot of research. An entire lifetime’s worth of research. I need to stop and just get on with it. I have Googled my little heart out and have experienced the darkest corners of the internet (not really, but I like to paint a scene). I have found some excellent sewing blogs which I want to share with you. They take the often daunting aspects of sewing and transform them into easy to read tutorials and instructions. I’m sure I would have packed it all in without them 🙂

I’ve been following Tilly and the Buttons for a while now and I’m obsessed! I never watched the first season of the Great British Sewing Bee (I didn’t have the sewing but then) but Tilly took part! If that wasn’t a good enough reason to love her blog, then her friendly tips and tutorials will send you over the edge 🙂 She also has a book coming out in May which I have already pre-ordered!

Sew Mama Sew is a great overall source for tutorials in all aspects of sewing. I really like the collection of beginner sewing projects and the Patterns and Adjustments section for all of my ?HUH? moments.

Alana over at Lazy Stitching has a major flare for maxi dresses, like, seriously her game is on point! This will be my go-to blog when I finally muster up the courage to tackle my very own maxi-garment 🙂

Sew Over It is the place to go for video tutorials. They are super easy to follow and her basic techniques like how to insert a concealed zip are great for beginners and also fab reminders for old hands!

Four Square Walls is a new find for me and am I glad of that discovery! I would just like to take a moment to offer kudos on her recent duffle bag make! I actually bought some faux leather to make my own version at some point so watch this space!

I guarantee that if you have a sewing conundrum you can find the answer in one of the blogs above! Now that I’ve done the research and hoarded the fabric, I guess it’s time to actually take the leap and make my first piece of clothing! Wish me luck!
