Sew Your Own Wardrobe: June

We’re into the second month of my sewing challenge and after the success of my brigitte dress I’m going full steam ahead with the next sew your own wardrobe project 🙂 So what will I be making this month? Well it’s only the Coco top from Tilly and The Buttons!

The first time I seen this pattern I knew I wanted to make it! There are so many different variations and possibilities so it took a bit of time to actually decide how I wanted to make it. After much consideration, I’m going for the top version with 3/4 length sleeves and no pockets. I may add in the collar but this will be decided on the fly.

And the fabric? Well my pretties you would think that after my most recent fabric haul I would have a multitude of weaves to play with… But apparently not! I’m now waiting for this red ponte roma jersey fabric to be delivered any day now 🙂

It’s not exactly the most summery look but that lace detail knocked me for 6. I love it!!

On the surface this pattern looks pretty simple and this is what drew me to it in the first place. Having cut out all of my pieces in perpetration to start, I would say that the most complicated part of this is going to be getting to grips with the jersey fabric. I’ve never worked with anything remotely stretchy before so I’ll be taking my sweet on this one. Unfortunately time is pretty scarce right now as I’m off on holiday in 2 weeks and I want to make something else before I go away! Wish me luck!
