Spooky Cupcakes Part 3 – Ghosts

Welcome back to the final instalment of my spooky cupcakes mini series! After cutting our chops on pumpkins and monsters, today we’re going to be taking on a show stopper – 3D ghoulish ghoul cupcakes to get your taste buds tingling. This is essentially a really simple design but it definitely packs a punch, especially when you set out an army of them!

You will need:

  • 1 regular cupcake
  • 1 Marshmallow
  • White fondant icing
  • Butter cream
  • Black edible ink pen

This design involves a bit of construction but don’t be put off – these cupcakes are a real show stopper! First, take your regular cupcake and lightly ice the top with butter cream. Take your marshmallow, pop a blob of butter cream on the top and place it on your cupcake.

Now take more butter cream and start to build your way up the shape, almost creating a thin pyramid about 12cm tall. Once you’re happy with the shape

Take your white fondant icing and cut a circle about 15cm in diameter and less than 1/2 a centimetre thick. Carefully drape this over your structure being careful not to stretch it out too much or make any holes! You can fiddle about the the folds of the icing at the bottom until you’re happy with the look.

Finally, add your eyes and mouth. I just used an edible pen but you could do them in icing if you wish.

So that’s it for my spooky cupcakes! I will be back next week with some more Halloween fun so until then, have a freaky-deaky weekend 😉
