Sew Your Own Wardrobe: Colette Moneta

Erm… Can someone tell me how it’s November already? Where the hell did 2014 go? We got back from London on Tuesday (should have been Monday but that’s what happens when you miss your God-damn flight and have to spend the night in an Airport hotel) and I’m now in the full swing of Christmas mode! I’m continuing my Sew Your Own Wardrobe challenge this month with the Colette Moneta dress and it’s gonna be a good one!

I think this is the perfect style of dress to wear on a cold day with thick tights, boots and a lovely coat. I have the best fabric picked out for it too – this textured jersey from Mandors in Glasgow. It feels lovely and the stretch is almost akin to a ponte so I’m pretty sure it will keep it’s shape well.

This is what I get when I take a photo at night with my phone! It’s actually a much nicer emerald green colour than shown here.

I’m planning to make version 3 with 3/4 length sleeves as that’s my preferred sleeve length. Colette have also released an add on for this pattern which includes loads of different collars but for this first attempt I think I’ll just go for a regular neckline. After doing a bit of research I will be making the size that fits my upper bust measurement with no alterations to the bodice. The construction looks pretty straight forward barring the insertion of clear elastic which I’ve never worked with before but hopefully it will all be a breeze 🙂

So that’s the plan for November and I’m pretty stoked about it! I have quite a few other makes to share this month so watch out for them and if you don’t want to miss a minute I highly suggest adding this blog to your preferred reader (bloglovin and the like) or why not subscribe to get posts directly to your inbox! The submission box is to your right and I promise only high quality sarcasm with minimum profanities.
