One of the many reasons we decided to go down to London for a few days was so that I could pick up some new fabric! I first went to Goldhawk road in March and couldn’t believe how cheap things were compared to Glasgow so I knew I had to go back this time around.
We didn’t get to spend as much time as I would have liked browsing the shops on the road (I had a very grumpy man in tow) but I did manage to pick up some bits that I’m pretty pleased about. My need for knits was indulged and my stash grew with a black and white splatter pattern, plain grey and a lovely cream with silver polka dots which just screams Christmas to me. The black and white was £3.50/metre and the grey and cream were £4/metre each :O You would easily pay £8 for these in the local Glasgow shops I bet!
For wovens I got some lovely printed cotton with blue flowers and a heavyweight cotton, almost oilcloth but not really, printed with a map of the world which I plan on making into a reusable bag. If you don’t already know, in Scotland you now have to pay 5p for a single plastic or paper bag in EVERY shop. I’ve found a pattern for a foldable, reusable bag and I think this fabric will be perfect for it! Saving the environment, one world and all 🙂
So that’s the Goldhawk Road fabric haul to keep me going for now. I have so much planned for the next few weeks so I’m sure it will be no time at all before it’s all gone!
