Crafty Catch Up time! I like to do these posts every so often just to get my ducks in a row. Is it just me or is this time of year insane? I’m pretty rushed off my feet right now and although I really do work best to deadlines (as my CV will tell you) it would be lovely to just have a bit of a breather. To manage all the balls that I’m juggling right now my spreadsheet game has been on point. I pretty much plan out my entire life between Excel and my Filofax. If one of them was to fail me I might have an actual breakdown! For your interest, and also my sanity, let me plot down the things that I’ve been up to recently and what I’ve got coming up.
Crochet: Last night I went to a Christmas crochet class hosted at a little shop in Kirkintilloch called ISew2. It was a really good night with around 9 people in the class with varying skill levels. If you’re a regular of Boldly Gold then you will know that I posess no skill when it comes to crochet, but I’m happy to report that I managed to actually make something after last night’s class! It’s a Christmas tree (obviously, right?) and I’m as pleased as punch with it! After speaking to some of the other participants and watching how it was done properly, things I had read started to click into place. Hopefully this will signal some actual progress in my pursuit for crochet domination.
Blogging: I do love this blog and treat it like a beloved pet that needs constant nurturing. Even if I’m not posting I’m always tinkering about with the code or thinking up redesign ideas. Speaking of which I think BoldlyGold.com is in for a bit of a design overhaul in 2015! Don’t know what I would do without secret Pinterest boards! Not only does this blog help keep my sanity in check, it’s also opened up a lot of doors for me. I’ve been getting quite a few sponsored post request over the past couple of weeks and some of them are really exciting! I know this is a bit of a hot topic but I really don’t see a problem with them, as long as they are relevant to the usual content. Stick around and you’ll be sure to see some very exciting crafty projects which wouldn’t have happened without the support of brands so I’m very thankful for them.
Sewing Meet Up: On Saturday I’m travelling through to Edinburgh to meet up with some other lovely sewing bloggers for some fabric shopping and a spot of lunch. I’m really looking forward to it and I’m after some show-stopper fabric to make a dress for Christmas day so fingers crossed!
Christmas: THIS IS NOT A DRILL. Christmas is in but a mere 34 days people. The following gif is an artistic impression of me at this thought.
Last year I had the Boldly Gold Christmas Countdown which was so much fun to do! Unfortunately with everything else going on right now I just can’t commit to 25 days of Christmas right now, but that’s not to say we won’t be without some festive cheer! I have so many Christmassy things to share but if you’re after ALL CHRISTMAS ALL THE TIME, then there just click the ‘Series’ at the top of the page where you can find all of the Christmas Countdown posts from last year for your viewing pleasure.
Stress Levels: My weekends are usually reserved for hardcore crafting time and that is A-OK with me! However, as we draw closer to the end of the year, my weekends have become full of events and days out! While I’m not complaining (honestly), this means that any crafting I have to do gets relegated to week nights when I’m not exactly super productive. Mr M is working cray-cray shifts right now so not having him around is a bit of a blessing in disguise but I feel like I really need 1 whole weekend just to get on top of things! Strangely enough my real life work has been quite busy too so I think that’s adding to the overall stress level. Someone get me a spa break for Christmas!
Crafting Christmas: About 2 months ago I had the brilliant idea of making a few gifts this year. Then I decided not to act on it for about 4 weeks because I’m an arsehole. Now we’re getting down to the line and I’m flapping about like something out of Chicken Run.
Add to this that I’m taking part in the Craftaholics Anonymous Gift Exchange again this year and things are really piling up. As with everything, I have a spreadsheet dedicated to managing my time effectively and if everything goes to plan then there will be gifts in everyone’s stocking come December 25. I’ll be in a coma, but there will be presents.
WOW do I feel better after that! If you managed it to the end of this post thanks ever so much for sticking with me through my little pity-party disguised as a crafty catch up littered with unnecessary gifs. It’s Friday, so after work I’m going to see the new Hunger Games movie (eek) and eat my weight in popcorn. Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll be back on Monday with a much happier (and craftier) post!
