Erm… Hello? Excuse me while I shuffle, self-consciously back into the spotlight. It’s been a while! I feel like I should go do a whole passage of time monologue a-la Twilight New Moon but I’ll spare you that and simply insert a relevant gif…
So what’s the craik? Well I’ve been BUSY! Not with anything really blog-able but just my general existence has been one hectic mess. I got a promotion at work towards the end of last year which put me in a bit of a tail-spin-freak-out but things have settled down a bit now and we’re in a calm period. I’ve also been stress-crafting my way through wedding preparations because I GET MARRIED THIS YEAR! True to form, I thought I would recap my thoughts and feelings about that whole thing in a series of gifs (because who has the time to produce original content, right?)
Yeah… That about sums it up.
I’ve made a lot of stuff recently but my one regret is that I’ve had to put sewing on the back burner. I’ve made 3 items since we moved into our new house in April and one of those was a Halloween costume (I was Daenerys Targaryen and it was awesome). All my crafting energy has been directed towards items for the wedding because I’m a cheap ass who refuses to pay for anything I can feasibly make myself, no matter how much time it will cost me. My saving grace is that I’m also a fanatical organiser and list maker. I’ve never been so thankful for these somewhat annoying qualities than I am right at this very moment. The next 33 weeks of my life are mapped out on a Gant chart (shout out to all my project management fellows) and have it constantly to hand. A cursory glance tells me that I have 32 craft projects to complete before the big day and this would seem obscene if I didn’t have chunks of time blacked out for each one on my chart. I’m actually ahead of schedule right now, not to toot my own horn too much.
So that’s what’s going on here. I have a backlog of things to showcase, so if you fancy sticking around for a gratuitous amount of gifs and my rudimentary understanding of what it means to function as an adult in this world, then please do subscribe.
We’re nearly there! I can’t believe that I’ve managed to blog for 18 consecutive days (with another 7 to go)! You know what this means? It’s exactly 1 week until Christmas!
With that in mind I thought today’s post would be a sort of progress report. So far I have bought the majority of my Christmas presents, with only one ‘big’ item left to buy tomorrow along and a few perishables which I will pick up on Monday. I’m waiting on a few deliveries so If you’re reading this, work for a delivery company and spot a parcel in your stack with my name on it, be a total dear and race it over to my place STAT!
I finally finished the handmade quilt for a certain someone so that will be wrapped ASAP so I never have to look at it again. Honestly, I never realised how time-consuming making a quilt would be! I think it’s taken me 20+ hours to make and if that certain someone doesn’t appreciate the sweat blood and tears that went into his gift, I may have a total meltdown.
All of my decorations have been up since the start of December (I know, right) however I still don’t feel all that Christmassy! I’m hoping that will change come the weekend when I don an apron and do some festive baking! Ian is on night shift this weekend so I thought I would try my hand at something new and make a selection of petit fours: Mini gin cupcake bites, salted caramel millionaire shortbread and Santa hat cheesecakes!
All in all I think I’m pretty organised. I have sent all but 1 Christmas card (of course I ran out of stamps), but I should remedy this today so I’m golden on that front. I have even sorted out my plans for Hogmanay and arranged to see my besties on Christmas night for a cocktail! I am in charge of activities on Boxing Day and this year I have organised a scavenger hunt for the family 🙂 I won’t go into too much detail as you never know who might be reading but they will be sent around the town finding clues and having a barrel of laughs.
This lucky girl has managed to swag a solid 9 days of work from the 24th of December so I will be spending that time doubling my dress size and having a right good time with friends and family. I do plan on taking a few days off from blogging starting from the 26th of December but I will be back before the new year 🙂 Until then, let me know how your Christmas plans are going! Are you super organised or do you leave it to the last minute and hope for the best? Tell me all about your successes (or troubles) in the comments down below 🙂
Shaytober is in full swing and I think its going well! I could be doing with a kick up the bum but other than that when I put my mind to going to the gym, I do it. I had a bit of a cheat day on Sunday as I spent the whole day baking (and obviously enjoyed the spoils) but I’m back on the wagon with my salads/soup for lunch and a healthy meal at dinner. I was so proud that last week I managed to run a full 2K without slowing my pace but that really knocked me for 6! This week my goal is to run/walk a 5K to see how long it takes me. If I can do it in under 32 minutes then I will be a happy girl!
So that’s my story for week 2. Let me know how you’re getting onFor now I will leave you with another motivational quote which I am quite enjoying…
Today is the first time that it actually feels like spring to me. To clarify this point, I am dressed in spring-y clothes for work – cream top, mint green cardigan; the whole shebang. Tonight I even plan on giving myself an Easter Mani which may or may not include the use of chicks and bunnies =]
So, what’s been going on this week? Well, I finally launched my YouTube channel. It is in its very early stages and I have loads more content to film which I am really excited about. I plan on it being an extension of this blog – a place where I can post random things that make me happy but in a video format. This simply adds to my gradual takeover of the internet – sick of me yet? So far, there has been a clear winner in the “views” contest. The most popular one by a LONG stretch is the video of my TK Maxx haul from earlier this month. Obviously this means that I need to keep doing haul videos to maintain my viewership… Therefore, I HAVE to go shopping regularly to provide myself with content. Ian hates me.
Now, there were actually a few reasons why I started it making videos and one of them certainly wasn’t because I wanted loads of views. On reflection, that was rubbish. I am far too needy not to get a HUGE thrill when I know that people are watching what I have to say. I am slightly ashamed to say that I regularly check to see how they are doing throughout the day. So, originally stating that I wanted to put videos up because I liked making them was a truly idealistic thought. In fact, I should have known that my attention-seeking behaviour would get the better of me. Am I going to apologise? Of course not. Am I now going to spam my social media feeds with links to said videos? Probably.
Apart from my foray into the world of YouTube, it’s been a pretty quiet week. I have been working my little socks off during the day and then getting home and totally vegging at night. In the UK, Easter is somewhat of a big deal, mainly because the schools are off for 2 weeks and regular companies let their ever grateful employees take the Friday (today) and Monday as Public Holidays. I am one of the unlucky sods who is actually working today but I do have Monday off! So this weekend we are going to take the opportunity to go for a drive to Larggs on the west coast of Scotland and visit the VIKING museum. This probably won’t appeal to most of you, but I can assure you, it’s a hoot!
So that’s that – I will also be doing some shopping as it is payday and I can neither confirm nor deny that there may or may not be a World of Warcraft related video on my channel soon. For now, Happy Easter, folks!
